Wow! Each year, PCMA-TRU grows in student power and with new ideas. Over the 2014/15 academic year, PCMA-TRU hosted many events, had several guest speakers, and raised funds not only to send sixteen members to Chicago, Illinois, but a total of $1000.00 for third party non-profit-organizations.
We started off the year by recruiting members at the Back To School BBQ and Clubs Day. In October, we hosted a screening of Mean Girls at Heroes Pub. Followed by trivia and a fun photo booth, this pub night raised nearly $500.00 towards the Canadian Cancer Foundation. November rolled around, along with Movember, where we hosted a bake sale and a fun night out at the Kamloops Shark Club. PCMA-TRU contributed nearly $600.00 towards the Movember Canada campaign.
We hosted two seasonal socials, including a roof top pool party at Hotel 540. A new fundraising campaign began, as PCMA-TRU designed and distributed exclusive tourism hoodies to students and faculty members. We even hosted a semi-formal ball to bring together and celebrate all tourism students!
In addition, we contributed heavily to Thompson Rivers University’s premiere fashion event, The Mosaic Fashion Show.
To top it off, PCMA-TRU hit a new record with over thirty active student members! We also managed to send sixteen student members off to Chicago for an incredible week of learning – another exciting record!
